About the Film
Jim Jarmusch’s movie Broken Flowers did much to popularize Ethiopian jazz in the west with a mixtape of the music of Mulatu Astatke featuring prominently in the film. Bill Murray plays “Don Johnston”, an aging Don Juan who revisits five of his past loves after receiving an anonymous letter revealing that he has a 19-year-old son.

A movie that creates a gentle cloud of happiness… Jarmusch’s most enjoyable, accessible work for some time, perhaps his most emotionally generous film.

Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

Funny, bittersweet, its understatement yielding surprising depth charges, Broken Flowers is a triumph of close observation and telling details.

David Ansen, Newsweek

Beautiful, as lilting and seductive as the music, by the Ethiopian jazz artist Mulatu Astatke, that accompanies Don on his trip.

AO Scott, New York Times
