French-Algerian saxophonist Illyes Ferfera explores Jazz on his debut album, Tawazûn, a title that means “balance” in Arabic. This is a fragile and difficult notion to attain, yet it is incredibly precious and a source of true wealth. This is the very challenge that Illyes and his three musician friends, Simon Chivallon on piano, Arthur Henn on double bass, and Tom Peyron on drums, will take on this Thursday, November 13, at Alliance Française Vancouver Theatre.

With their project Tawazûn, Illyes Ferfera and his musicians create a unique and fascinating musical dialogue, drawing from their diverse cultural heritages.Their sound is a true tapestry where the enchanting melodies of North Africa and Algeria intersect with European and French elegance, as well as the improvisational richness of Jazz from North and Latin America.This exceptional quartet, recognized for its talent, has already graced the stages of Paris’s most iconic jazz clubs and had the honor of shining at the prestigious Jazz In Marciac festival.Prepare for a sonic experience that is rich, deep, and incredibly captivating.
