Simple City is a collectively led modern jazz trio. Their self titled record, written during a residency at the Banff Centre in 2018 and recorded at Vancouver’s Afterlife Studios, was released in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now scattered across the nation, Arthur Smith (guitar, Montreal), Jeff Gammon (bass, Calgary) and Kevin Romain (drums, Vancouver) are reuniting to revisit this book of original music after five long and strange years.
