About City of God:
After the set, you’re invited to enjoy the powerhouse Brazilian cinematic classic, City of God (130 minutes), directed by Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund. A blistering portrait of the criminal underbelly in Rio de Janeiro’s favela Cidade de Deus, the film was nominated for five Academy Awards, incluidng Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Cast with non professional actors from the favelas, it has a rare authenticity, and has been favourably compared with Goodfellas and Boyz in the Hood.
