Matt Choboter Trio at Frankie’s After Dark

An award-winning pianist and composer, Matt Choboter’s music has been described as: “post-jazz of a distinctly personalized kind” (Ron Schepper of Textura); “Densely expressive music” with a “dreamlike aura” (Fabricio Vieira); music that is “reminiscent of very original film music” (Ken Vos). His recent releases “Sleep Inertia” and “Postcards of Nostalgia” were heralded “Best Jazz of 2022” (All About Jazz, U.S.A) and “Best Jazz on Bandcamp for July 2022 and July 2023” (Dave Sumner).
Matt is based in Copenhagen but regularly leads projects in Vancouver with musicians including Brad Turner, François Houle, and Peggy Lee. “Hearing Matt is, first and foremost, an emotional experience. Knowledge, virtuosity and sound are at the service of a vision, and Matt’s fearlessness and dedication grab you and never let go. Frankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
