Grinningly growling it’s way out of the darkness, Lone Bear, Vancouver’s most playfully mauling instrumental trio, unleashes its love of heavy grooves, pretty songs and no-rules improvisation in a return to the Frankie’s After Dark stage. Featuring an OG lineup of LB players (guitarist Jeff Younger, bassist Russell Sholberg, and drummer Bernie Arai), the band mashes classic hits from The Temptations, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Beatles through a celestial arrangement funhouse and a free jazz improv blender. There’s a good chance a couple of Younger’s original compositions will make an appearance too. Always beastly, always fun, and always an unpredictable musical adventure.
