Trumpeter John Korsrud, accompanied by a band comprised of Vancouver’s top musicians, honors the legacy of jazz legend Kenny Wheeler. Wheeler, renowned as one of jazz’s foremost composers and instrumentalists, has profoundly impacted the genre with his emotive and melancholic style, influencing countless contemporary composers.
For this Frankie’s After Dark Performance he’ll be joined by Jon Bentley on saxophone, Jillian Lebeck on piano, Conrad Good on bass, and Dave Robbins on drums.
Frankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
