Jason Winikoff is an ethnomusicologist, drummer, percussionist, and educator, now living in the US, and formerly residing in Vancouver. He is a firm believer in music’s ability to respond to, influence, and reflect culture. His Crescent Quartet plays music from various points of New Orleans’ rich history. The quartet contends that New Olreanian music is not (and has never been) just one thing. As such, a Crescent Quartet show features traditional BAM, Silverbook classics, modern compositions, arrangements made famous by New Orleanians, and songs inspired by the Crescent City. The group boasts a revolving door of Vancouver’s best jazz musicians, ensuring that every show will bring something new.
