Vancouver-born pianist influenced by free-form, socially conscious jazz of the late ’60s as well as today’s resurgent civil rights movement.

Cat Toren is a Juno award winning pianist, improviser and composer originally from Vancouver, now residing in Belllingham, Washington. Known for her work with Pugs & Crows, and her years as a cornerstone of the Vancouver Jazz scene, Toren returns home on October 24 with her much loved and much missed band: Human Kind.

This group updates 1960’s Spiritual Jazz in new & fresh ways, ensuring that Jazz never strays too far from it’s socially concious roots.

This performance is part of the Expression Sessions, a monthly Jazz series at Zameen Art House presented by Infidels Jazz.
