Returning for his third appearance on the Frankie’s After Dark series, Edmonton-based drummer and composer Biboye Onanuga brings a groove-forward set to Vancouver.
This evening, Biboye invites you into a sound rooted in contemporary jazz, but borrowing from head-nodding hip-hop loops, and soulful neo-soul harmonies. “Today’s Jazz”. Fans of Kiefer’s beat-jazz, and both Robert Glasper’s acoustic trio, and experiment will feel right at home with this music. Consider this the unofficial YEBBA afterparty : )
Biboye is joined by Vancouver bassist Bella Fedrigo, and frequent hometown collaborators: pianist Brady Lloyd, and guitarist Morgan Hanna…plus some VERY special guests!
Frankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday & Saturday night at Frankie’s Jazz Club (755 Beatty) at 11PM. Tickets are $10 and are added to your bill at the end of the night. This series is curated & presented by Infidels Jazz.
