The Wynston Minckler trio is a rare electric jazz outing for the stalwart Vancouver bassist, featuring heavy hitters Mary Ancheta on keyboards and Nick James on drums.

A sharp departure from swinging jazz standards, this trio embraces the glittering sounds of the 70s and 80s; disco, Japanese electro-pop, early edm, tv show themes, and exercise workout soundtracks are vehicles for jazz improv and group interplay.

For this show at Chill X the trio will be presenting a special tribute show to the music of Yellow Magic Orchestra, rounded out with related tunes by members of YMO and other 80s ephemera.
