Karl DeJong is a drummer, composer and music producer who resides on the traditional unceded territories of the q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), Máthxwi (Matsqui), and se’mya’me (Semiahmoo) First Nations. Joined by Noah Franche-Nolan on piano and Wynston Minckler on bass, Karl will be performing a suite of original music rooted in the Black American Music tradition, with a focus on evocative, exploratory, and at times melancholic material. Expect to be intrigued, surprised, scorched, and then soothed by his eclectic mix of repertoire. Come if you dare…
For this special Frankie’s After Dark performance Karl will be joined by Noah Franche-Nolan on piano and Wynston Minckler on bass.
Frankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
