Ilhan Saferali is a Canadian musician currently based out of New York City. After making a name for himself as a promising young talent on the Vancouver Jazz scene in his late teens, Ilhan moved to New York City to study Jazz performance at The New School and develop his professional/artistic career. Ilhan is a trumpet player, pianist and composer who has worked and studied with many notable greats such as Reggie Workman, Buster Williams, Emmet Cohen, Jean Michel-Pilc, Jimmy Owens, Allison Miller, and many more. While in New York, Ilhan has had opportunities to share the stage with jazz legends such as George Coleman, Johnny O’Neal, Joe Farnsworth, Joe Magnarelli, Benny Benack amongst others. Ilhan will be bringing a piano trio to Frankie’s After Dark with repertoire paying homage to legendary jazz pianists who developed and mastered the art form of playing piano trio.
Frankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
