The inspiration for this project arises from Nicholas and Noah’s extensive backgrounds in jazz, electronic music, and experimental sounds. Their collaboration is driven by a shared passion for innovation and a commitment to exploring new musical frontiers. The original compositions are the result of numerous improvisation sessions, where both artists experiment with different textures, rhythms, and melodies to create a cohesive and dynamic sound.
Nicholas is an accomplished drummer and percussionist known for his versatility and innovative approach to rhythm and drumming. His extensive experience spans various genres, including jazz, experimental, and groove-based music. Nicholas’s ability to blend intricate rhythms with powerful grooves is a cornerstone of the duo’s sound.
Noah Franche-Nolan (Keys and Electronics):
Noah is a skilled pianist and electronic musician with a background in both classical and contemporary music. His expertise in using digital tools like Ableton Live allows him to create complex, layered soundscapes that complement Nicholas’s drumming. Noah’s compositions often explore the intersection of acoustic and electronic music, making him a perfect fit for this project.
Frankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
