DESCRIPTION:Juno is a Canadian bassist and composer\, now residing in Montreal and attending McGill’s Schulich School of Music. Since moving across the country three years ago\, Juno has been establishing a voice in Montreal as a sideman\, working as an electric/double bassist in Jazz\, Indie\, Folk\, and Classical music whilst also developing a voice as a young composer. Having spent time with jazz luminaries Jesse Cahill and Kevin Dean\, as well as emerging artists Jeremy Sandfelder\, Lucas Dubovik\, and Khalil Bouaziz\, Juno is delighted to be bringing their own ensemble to Frankie’s Jazz Bar\, performing an eclectic mix of standards\, originals\, and music from the Modern American Songbook.\nFor this Frankie’s After Dark performance they’ll be joined by Owen Chow on trumpet and Karl DeJong on drums.\nFrankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. DESCRIPTION:Infidels Jazz is proud to announce a new bi-weekly Jazz jam session which will take place Hero’s Welcome at 3917 Main Street\, starting in April at 2PM.\nSharon Minemoto is the perfect musician to host the house band for the first few months\, as she led the jam sessions at Pat’s for years. Joining her in April and May will be some of the city’s finest bassists and drummers\, including Darren Radtke\, Bernie Arai\, Nino DePasquale\, Conrad Good and Dave Robbins.\nThese will be open jam sessions\, which means that everybody from professionals to high school students will be welcome. Helping us in making sure that the jam is accessible to those younger members of our community will be the Fraser MacPherson Jazz Fund\, who has signed on as a sponsor of the Jams. If you’re under the age of 19\, just make sure you have a guardian of legal age with you. DESCRIPTION:Infidels Jazz is proud to announce a new bi-weekly Jazz jam session which will take place Hero’s Welcome at 3917 Main Street\, starting in April at 2PM.\nSharon Minemoto is the perfect musician to host the house band for the first few months\, as she led the jam sessions at Pat’s for years. Joining her in April and May will be some of the city’s finest bassists and drummers\, including Darren Radtke\, Bernie Arai\, Nino DePasquale\, Conrad Good and Dave Robbins.\nThese will be open jam sessions\, which means that everybody from professionals to high school students will be welcome. Helping us in making sure that the jam is accessible to those younger members of our community will be the Fraser MacPherson Jazz Fund\, who has signed on as a sponsor of the Jams. If you’re under the age of 19\, just make sure you have a guardian of legal age with you. DESCRIPTION:The sound of the John Lee Trio bridges the gap between the past and the future of modern jazz; A collective true to the “straight ahead” sound with a fresh improvisational approach on concise musical arrangements. The trio rarely features original compositions and the most prominent vessel for expression is the interpretation of a song from the Great American Songbook or a composition by a Jazz giant born in the early 20th century.\nFor this Frankie’s After Dark Performance John will be joined by Kosma Busheikin on bass\, and Graham Villette on drums.\nFrankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. DESCRIPTION:Dante André-Kahan is a Vancouver-based guitarist and percussionist originally from the Saanich Peninsula on Vancouver Island\, British Columbia. Having grown up playing in school wind and jazz ensembles\, writing music\, and studying musicology and classical guitar at the University of Victoria\, Dante is now emerging from a creative hiatus into the Vancouver jazz scene. His eclectic approach to guitar playing and composition is informed by many techniques and musical traditions\, but above all Dante strives to play every note with meaning\, feel comfortable with space and silence in music\, and bring people together in his community.\nDante first conceived of this tribute project to the music of John Abercrombie at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic\, listening to Abercrombies albums while working in his grandparents garden. He sees the potential for this music to complement the pastoral landscapes of southwestern British Columbia and is excited to bring it to his part of the world.\nFor this Frankies After Dark performance Dante will be joined by Gabriel Dubreuil on violin\, David Caballero on bass\, and Dan Gaucher on drums. \nNO RESERVATION REQUIRED Walk-in only.
