SUMMARY:I Am the Blues + Robert Connely Farr Live
DESCRIPTION:Robert Connely Farr is a songwriter from Bolton Mississippi (hometown of blues legends like Charley Patton\, Sam Chatmon\, Bo Carter & Walter Vinson) he currently resides in Vancouver\, Canada. \nGet Tickets\nSince 2017\, cherished elder Mississippi blues man Jimmy “Duck” Holmes has been mentoring Farr in the Bentonia Style of the Delta Blues. He’s also learned directly from Mississippi Bluesmen RL Boyce & Terry Harmonica Bean. In 2019 Farr was nominated for New Artist of the Year & Songwriter of the Year by Canada’s prestigious Maple Blues Awards for his album Dirty South Blues (Prod. Leeroy Stagger). \nImmediately following in 2020\, he was met with a cancer diagnosis during which he recorded and released his Country Supper\, Gasoline & Live In EastVan albums. In 2022 he released Ain’t Enough & Shake It with the Cherry Ball and Pandora Sessions following in 2023. His songs having been used on Netflix\, Lifetime & SYFY on shows like Snowpiercer\, Resident Alien & Reacher. \nFor this special performance at VIFF\, he’ll be performing classic Delta Blues songs as well as his own originals. He’ll be joined by Tyler McLeod on drums. \nAbout the Film: I Am the Blues (Daniel Cross\, Canada\, 2016) 106 min. \nA musical journey through the swamps of the Louisiana Bayou\, the juke joints of the Mississippi Delta and Moonshine soaked BBQs in the North Mississippi Hill Country. Visiting the last original blues devils\, many in their 80s\, still living in the deep south\, working without management and touring the Chitlin’ Circuit. Let Bobby Rush\, Barbara Lynn\, Henry Gray\, Carol Fran\, Lazy Lester\, Bilbo Walker\, RL Boyce\, Jimmy ’Duck’ Holmes\, Lil Buck Sinegal\, LC Ulmer and their friends awaken the blues in all of us. \nI was quietly blown away by Daniel Cross’s new documentary I Am the Blues… There is something miraculous in this patient little film\, which lends an ear to weathered old musicians\, going about their lives in the backwaters of the Louisiana Bayou and the Mississippi Delta. The director leaves ample room for the music\, and it will take your breath away. I Am the Blues seeks and finds incredible artists who have been overlooked or forgotten\, and gives them their due before they’re gone. \nT’Cha Dunlevy\, Montreal Gazette \nA lovely film\, made with a light\, respectful touch. For aficionados\, this is a must see. For those who at least like the blues\, it’s also highly recommendable. \nMarc Glassman\, POV magazine \n  \nCo-Presented with

SUMMARY:Look Out for Hope + Bill Frisell: A Portrait
DESCRIPTION:Look Out For Hope celebrates the unique guitar sound of Bill Frisell who has been inspiring audiences and musicians all over the world since the 1980s. \nGet Tickets\nFor their VIFF Live concert\, Lookout For Hope will play some of Frisell’s most recognizable songs\, along with some deep cuts. SUMMARY:Brass Camel with Chopping Spree and Bleako's Nuclear Disco
DESCRIPTION:Brass Camel turns it up to celebrate the release of their third album – featuring face-melters Chopping Spree and Bleako’s Nuclear Disco.\n\n\nGet Tickets\n\n\nMinotaur Music & The Infidels Jazz present Brass Camel Album Release Party/Tour Launch\nwith guests\, Chopping Spree and Bleako’s Nuclear Disco\nSaturday 25\, April\, 2026\nThe Rickshaw Theatre\n19+\nDoors: 7:00pm\nBrass Camel\nVancouver’s Brass Camel is a rock band that defies labels\, fusing deep-pocket funk\, face-melting prog\, and massive-harmony art rock. Their musicianship and work ethic have earned endorsements from Sabian\, Rotosound UK\, and Vater\, and since releasing their debut album Brass in 2022 they’ve played over 150 shows\, including four national Canadian tours\, major festivals (Between the Peaks\, Starbelly Jam\, Wapiti)\, and stages like Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom\, Vogue Theatre\, and a Toronto headliner at the historic Longboat Hall. In 2024\, their cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s Please Please Please on Musora’s Covers Challenge took off on YouTube\, drawing over 700\,000 views. Their sophomore album Camel (spring 2024) brought international press\, reaction videos\, and steady LP sales. While touring in 2025\, the band recorded their third LP at Uxbridge’s pastoral Chalet Studio with Kevin Comeau of Crown Lands co-producing. Mixed by the legendary Terry Brown (Rush\, Hendrix\, The Who\, Blue Rodeo)\, the upcoming spring 2026 release marks a bold leap in songwriting\, distilling Brass Camel’s road-forged sound into something entirely their own. \nwww.brasscamel.ca \nChopping Spree\nChopping Spree is a jazz fusion/experimental band that delves into the groovy\, energetic world of jazz rock. They blend elements of Japanese jazz\, funk\, and psychedelia\, with the explosive energy of Vancouver’s underground hard rock scene. Sometimes smooth jazz\, sometimes metal\, Chopping Spree is a sight to see with their wild stage presence and captivating riffs. Taking influence from the likes of Casiopea\, SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS\, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard\, their unique style creates a soundscape of hypnotic proportions. \nchoppingspree.ca \nBleako’s Nuclear Disco\nIn their own words: “We live to create. We live to share our experiences on this earth with others. We strive to create immersive\, thought out\, personal music. Music that makes us dream. Music that carries us far beyond the trivialities of our everyday. We long for the next exhilarating journey to the unknowable ends of our creative process.
