DESCRIPTION:Hypha Arts: Record release party for Kevin Romain’s “Autopoietic 1”\, presented by The Infidels Jazz and The Hypha Artists Association. \nGet Tickets\n“Autopoietic 1” is the debut solo recording from drummer/improviser Kevin Romain. In his own words: \n“Rhythm induces in a listener a sensation of movement through space\, even while remaining relatively still. Polyrhythm opens a paradoxical space in which we can move through space at multiple speeds simultaneously\, or in multiple directions at once – Dancing in our heads\, substituting dream logic for the laws of physics. These drumset improvisations are miniature explorations of the phenomenology of polyrhythm and the accompanying granular emotional states; a search for the limits of my own sense-making affordances; a dialogue between the various voices that populate my internal landscape. I hope this music is fun to listen to. I think of attention and focus as highly limited endogenous resources and as analogous to/expressions of love. SUMMARY:Seb Chamney Trio at Frankie's After Dark
DESCRIPTION:Seb Chamney is a jazz and contemporary guitar player based in Vancouver\, BC. He has been fortunate enough to be a part of many creative projects with high level musicians within the local community. Seb prides himself on approaching every musical scenario with focus\, passion\, and creativity. Tonight he will be leading a trio featuring two of his highly valued collaborators\, Trent Otter on drums\, and Colin Sankey on bass. These three have an extensive history of performing and creating music together. The Seb Chamney Trio will be playing a blend of standards\, modern jazz repertoire\, and original compositions.\nFrankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
