SUMMARY:Asef at All-City Athletics
DESCRIPTION:The name Ásef has its origins in Arabic and Persian cultures. It is a popular name in Muslim communities and carries spiritual and cultural significance. In Hebrew\, the word means to gather or harvest. Ásef has a unique sound melding Middle eastern overtones with jazz improvisation. The members of the group bring to the stage many years of experience playing a variety of music from around the world including Balkan folk\, Tango\, Klezmer\, Flamenco and Bebop. Their compositions embrace this vast range of musical sounds taking the audience on a truly unique musical journey. The band members hope this music will help us all to come together peacefully despite our differences. \nSaul Berson – saxophones\nItamar Erez – guitar\nSam Shoichet – bass\nLiam Macdonald – drums/percussion \nThis event is presented by Infidels Jazz \nAll-City Athletics 130 W. Hastings (This is only accessble via the back alley entrance\, using the door with the big A over it) \nDoors: 7:30PM \n$20 in advance\, $25 at the door.
