SUMMARY:Julian Borkowski Quartet at All-City Athletics
DESCRIPTION:Julian Borkowski has quickly become one of the most talked about young Jazz trumpeters on the Canadian scene\, despite having spent most of the last several years working on his masters degree in Oregon. \nFor this special performance at All-City Athletics\, Julian has assembled a group of some the brightest young lights on the Vancouver scene: Quincy Mayes on keyboards\, David Caballero on bass\, and Todd Stewart on drums. This will be Julian’s first Vancouver show on trumpet in over two years\, and will feature two scorching sets of Julian’s original music\, most of which has never been performed in Vancouver. \nThis event is on August 10 at All-City Athletics at 130 W. Hastings. 7:30 Doors\, 8:00PM Start. \nIt’s only accessible from the the Alley Entrance\, and is presented by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. \nTickets will $20 in advance via eventbrite\, and $25 at the door. \nBUY TICKETS TODAY

SUMMARY:Ilhan Saferali Trio
DESCRIPTION:Ilhan Saferali is a Canadian musician currently based out of New York City. After making a name for himself as a promising young talent on the Vancouver Jazz scene in his late teens\, Ilhan moved to New York City to study Jazz performance at The New School and develop his professional/artistic career. Ilhan is a trumpet player\, pianist and composer who has worked and studied with many notable greats such as Reggie Workman\, Buster Williams\, Emmet Cohen\, Jean Michel-Pilc\, Jimmy Owens\, Allison Miller\, and many more. While in New York\, Ilhan has had opportunities to share the stage with jazz legends such as George Coleman\, Johnny O’Neal\, Joe Farnsworth\, Joe Magnarelli\, Benny Benack amongst others. Ilhan will be bringing a piano trio to Frankie’s After Dark with repertoire paying homage to legendary jazz pianists who developed and mastered the art form of playing piano trio.\nFrankie’s After Dark takes place every Friday and Saturday at Frankie’s Jazz Club in downtown Vancouver and is curated by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. Shows start at 11:00PM and tickets are $10.
