DESCRIPTION:The Wynston Minckler trio is a rare electric jazz outing for the stalwart Vancouver bassist\, featuring heavy hitters Mary Ancheta on keyboards and Nick James on drums.\n\nA sharp departure from swinging jazz standards\, this trio embraces the glittering sounds of the 70s and 80s; disco\, Japanese electro-pop\, early edm\, tv show themes\, and exercise workout soundtracks are vehicles for jazz improv and group interplay.\n\nFor this show at Chill X the trio will be presenting a special tribute show to the music of Yellow Magic Orchestra\, rounded out with related tunes by members of YMO and other 80s ephemera.\n\nJazz Arts at Chill X Studios is a new weekly Wednesday night Jazz series presented by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz and hosted by Chill X\, an exciting new comedy club/events space in the heart of Mt. Pleasant\, at 2270 Manitoba Street.
