DESCRIPTION:Karen Graves is a multifaceted musician who grew up in Vancouver Island\, playing saxophone in her high-school band with educator Brian Stovell and taking lessons with Steve Jones.\n\nKaren has had the pleasure of gigging with stellar musicians such as Pianists Miles Black\, Linton Garner\, Kathy Kidd; Drummers Dan Brubeck\, Claude Ranger; Vocalist such as South African superstar\, Dolly Rathabe\, Indian Classical Vocalist Shweta Jhaveri\, Long John Baldry; multiinstrumentalists Themba Tana\, Celso Machado\, Hugh Fraser\, Vinnie Golia; French bassist Joelle Rabu.\n\nShe has also played with groups such as the iconic Temptations\, Will Bernard and Motherbug from San Francisco\, as well as many others.\n\nFor this special performance she’ll be joined by Jillian Lebeck on piano\, Conrad Good on bass\, and Bernie Arai on drums.\n\nSundays at Hero’s Welcome (3917 Main Street) is a bi-weekly jazz series presented by Tim Reinert of Infidels Jazz. The concept is to provide an affordable way for jazz lovers of all ages to gather and celebrate this music we love.\n\nThe inspiration for this series comes from the long-running and much-missed Jazz at the Pat Saturday series curated by Roderick MacDonald & then Sharon Minemoto.\nAdmission is only $5.
